Liz’s Illness – Part 5

Background

1/13/24 Saturday

I’ve been home for almost two weeks. At first I was exhausted all the time, and I had to work hard at resting. That may sound like an oxymoron, but rest is actually a necessary task that allows my body to do the healing it was created to do. My appreciation for the intricacies and amazing functioning of our bodies has skyrocketed with this experience.

Status

The symptoms in my legs are slightly improved, and I woke up today feeling like my right foot and leg is about 75% back to normal. The left foot and leg doesn’t feel much different than it has this whole time.

On Wednesday I had a hair appointment, which allowed me to leave the house since the 1st. It felt nice to be outside! I saw my primary care physician on Thursday (another venture outside). The cold that hit me in the hospital has been lingering almost two weeks later, creating quite a yucky sounding cough, so she prescribed some antibiotics to make sure nothing is building in my lungs. It’s been almost 72 hours since taking that first dose, and already the cough is almost gone. (Yes, I will finish the prescription.) I’ve also been given a referral to a physical therapist as that will be necessary for me to learn how to work with legs and feet that are not giving me normal feedback for walking, going up and down stairs, etc. I’ve got an appointment to follow up with my neurologist at the end of the month.

Praises and Prayers

Praises

  • My energy is coming back, with improvement on that front almost every day. Today was a lower energy day.
  • I have no limitations in movement other than energy levels. My steps per day have been gradually increasing as well, and keeping myself moving gently is only helping.
  • I’ve been able to get good sleep most nights. This is essential for my healing.

Prayer Requests

  • Continued ability to sleep and rest as needed.
  • Restored energy, healing of leg symptoms, and for all congestion to clear up.
  • Wisdom for my medical team overseeing this process.
  • Patience for what I can do at this time and for when I need to rest.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and outpouring of love.
